- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup fruit jam of choice (strawberry, raspberry, or apricot)
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Optional Add-Ins:
- Almond extract for a nuttier flavor

- Lemon zest for a citrusy twist
Instructions
- Make the Dough: Cream butter and sugar, add egg yolk and vanilla, then mix in flour. Chill dough for 30 minutes.
- Roll & Cut: Roll out dough and cut into heart shapes. Cut out smaller hearts in half of them for the jam “window”.
- Bake: Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 9-11 minutes until lightly golden. Cool completely.
- Assemble Cookies: Spread jam on the whole cookies and top with the cut-out ones. Dust with powdered sugar.
Notes
- For crispier cookies, bake 1-2 minutes longer.
- Chill the dough to prevent spreading.
- Try Nutella or lemon curd instead of jam for a fun twist!
