- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 lean-to-fat ratio)
- 2 cups elbow macaroni (or similar pasta)
- 2 cups tomato sauce
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
- Add diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
- Stir in the tomato sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5-7 minutes.
- Cook the pasta in salted water until al dente. Drain and rinse with cold water.
- Combine the cooked pasta and beef sauce in a large mixing bowl. Mix well.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella on top if desired.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until bubbly and the cheese is melted.
- Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
